Jaipur, fondly known as the Pink City, is the administrative capital of Rajasthan. The city was founded in 1726 by Maharaja Jai Singh II, making it rich in history and culture. Jaipur’s economy is fueled by tourism, the manufacture of textiles, jewellery, and information technology. Jaipur is well connected to the National capital region and other major metropolitan cities by a network of national highways. The RSRTC runs bus services to major cities in the North and the Jaipur City Transport Services Limited (JCTSL) operates buses within the city. The city is also the headquarters of the North Western Railways with the Jaipur Railway Station being the main hub for the state. The Jaipur International Airport, which is 10 km from the city centre, operates flights to every metropolitan city in the country and the Middle East. Jaipur sees a large influx of tourists and many hotels and resorts have come up to accommodate their large numbers. If you’re on a budget, you can choose from a number of comfortable two-star hotels in Jaipur. These hotels are usually small two to four storey buildings that are located near popular tourist attractions, major intersections and transportation hubs around the city. These hotels are clean and well maintained but don’t expect too many on-site amenities. Most 2-star hotels in Jaipur do not come with in-house restaurants but don't worry as they are close to a number of affordable, well-rated restaurants. Jaipur is a part of the Golden Triangle circuit, along with Delhi and Agra. Attractions you must visit are the City Palace, Jal Mahal, Jaigarh Fort, Birla Mandir, Jaipur Zoo, Nahargarh Fort, Garh Ganesh Temple, and Hawa Mahal. Also visit the Jantar Mantar and Amer Fort, both of which are UNESCO World Heritage Sites.
